Jagratha Samithy

What is a Jagratha Samiti?

Jagratha Samiti is a platform for the protection of children and women that works continuously at the local level to ensure the rights of women and children, ensure their physical and mental safety, and prevent violence, rights violations, and social taboos against them.

In order to prepare a protection system, Jagratha Samiti works urgently on issues that require immediate intervention in the area. The committees can work by using the legal protections and mechanisms available to women and children, citing the absence of various committees, and by protecting the rights of women and children.

Objectives

To protect the rights of women and children and ensure strong interventions and arrangements for redress against any violence, discrimination, injustice, exploitation, and denial of justice against them.

To receive any complaint in which women and children are parties and to provide redress through immediate interventions or through support mechanisms.

The complaints and problems that the Jagratha Samiti cannot resolve on its own should be forwarded to the District Jagratha Samiti, Women's Commission, other government agencies, and legal aid agencies, and the results should be conveyed to the lower level through follow-up activities.

Coordinate government-level agencies and projects for the protection of women and girls and various rights. Coordinate the activities of other agencies with the Jagratha Samiti with the same objective and make activities possible.

Implement activities that create a social environment in which there are no problems against women and children in the society.

Form various types of associations and use popular mechanisms to achieve the goal.

Provide community monitoring and support to women and children's activities in situations of abuse.
